Summary: Casey wakes up on the spire after two eventful years at home. He gets antsy and overstimulated. And speedy.

Location: The south side of Lux Spire/the park (please keep him around here unless we've discussed things)
Characters: Steven and ~~the Stevens~~ anyone who wants to meet him before he meets you.
When: September 10
Summary: Friendly kid is brand new. Help maybe?

Just to the south of the spire, a small boy in a pink t-shirt stamped with a bright yellow star is standing on the street with his neck craned back as far as it can go. "Whoooooaaaaa..." he murmurs to no one in particular. "It's even taller than the temple! They might wanna put some railings up, though..."

He puts a hand to his chin in thought. Clearly he's quite focused on taking in this monument.

Or, if he's moved on from that, he's completely distracted by by everything else around him. New things clearly require his full attention!

This probably means that he's not paying much attention to people passing by or other traffic, however. If you're not prone to just reaching out to a new resident, at least you can keep him out of impending danger?

When: Night of September 9

Summary: Most of Freesia is celebrating tonight. Ward off the darkness with lanterns and masks and maybe chat with the local light god.

In a change from their usual behavior, the citizens of Freesia are out and about during the night in order to celebrate another festival.

Called “Spooky Night,” the atmosphere of this holiday may seem familiar to some of Freesia's outsiders. Lanterns patterned after all manner of monsters and other creepy things are visible everywhere, resting on doorsteps, hung from trees, placed in windows, and there are smaller ones strung between buildings and across streets.

Equally creepy masks abound as well. They're mostly worn by the children, but some adults can be seen indulging as well, the eyes and mouths of their masks glowing like jack o' lanterns.

Most of the citizens seem to be enjoying themselves, chatting and laughing with one another, jumping around and trying to scare each other, drinking and buying snacks from opportunistic vendors. Many of the festive citizens have gathered at a bonfire in the park, but groups of people can be found just about anywhere tonight.

But despite the party atmosphere, you may want to pay close attention to the city tonight...

Location: The park
Characters: Peridot, Rose Quartz, and Greg Universe
When: Three days after Peridot gets Shadowed.
Summary: A romantic evening walk is interrupted by a violent stalker and it all goes to hell from there.

Peridot had waited long enough. Three days of avoiding the sun, of practicing until she collapsed on the spot, of seething in an anger that was acute even for her with the whispers in her head egging her on, she managed one. A jagged shadow, long and thin and sharp, jutting up out of the concrete. She did it. She made one.

Eventually, she could make a few more. Eventually, she could throw them.

All she needed was one perfect shot, right through the gem. It would be easy enough to get close if Rose was hunting her. If her encounter with her in the shops was any indication, she'd believe anything. Any story would do. Of course it would. The whispers had stopped arguing with her about this. Just this one thing. If she got to do this one thing, then she pay attention to what they wanted.

Helicopter fingers fluttering, she scanned the city for Rose until finally she found her in the park with her pet human. The sun was setting, the shadows would get stronger and stronger in the waning daylight...perfect. She taxied down to the ground behind the couple.

“Well, well, well...Isn't it getting a little late?”

When: The last Sunday in July.
Summary: The citizens of Freesia are celebrating THE SUMMER EXPLOSIVES FESTIVAL. Expect fireworks and barbecue.

With the chaos of last month's Nox Carnival and the ongoing fallout from that, most of Freesia's guests are probably finding the city a less than cheerful place to stay.

However, this past week they may have noticed a strangely festive air to the place. There's an excited buzz about the commercial district, and the city has been fancied up with fresh flowers wherever you go.

And then, come today, you'll finally learn what all the excitement's been building towards.
